The owner’s brief was to create a hairdressing salon that was different from
traditional concepts but retained 100% functionality with a unique design. The goal
was to combine elegance and timelessness and incorporate them into the industrial
and austere nature of the building.
The uniqueness of the salon starts in the entrance area, where the reception desk is
characterised by delicate round shapes. They are repeated in all furnishing elements,
even in the walls and partitions throughout the entire space. We used them to divide
the rectangular space into playful work zones.
From the reception desk you can see the partition, which gives a hint of what is going
on behind it. There is a bespoke seating area in front of it, where the owner is
consulted over a coffee.
In the next section, a large hairdressing table full of greenery and large trees will
catch your attention. They form a backdrop, dividing the hairdressing stations and
creating a playful space with lighting effects. They are created by the shadows of tree
leaves on the walls.
Mirrors with integrated lighting contrast with the subtle retro elegance of the industrial
design and colour.
The next part is accessed through a custom-made double-leaf door, which is the
dominant element of the space. This quiet zone was designed for washing stations
and staff facilities and is complemented by a number of storage areas.
Throughout the salon, the furniture is tailor-made to fit in with the distinctly unusual
plasterboard niches, rounded walls and partitions, which are almost sculptural
elements.
In this way, we have created a modern, timeless salon for the owner, who also
needed a space to showcase his star-studded clientele.
The salon is full of natural light, which is complemented by functional workroom
lighting and decorative luminaires. To bring out the beauty of the subtle design, we
used natural shades of beige and terracotta, various 3D textures on the furniture and
a terrazzo texture on the floor.
The concept of combining the new with the old is completed by retro ceramic
switches and sockets. The space is filled with solitaires in the form of armchairs and
tables with rounded geometric shapes that underline the playfulness of the
hairdressing salon.
