Kantína je špecifické zadanie, kde musíme myslieť na efektivitu a rýchlu obrátkovosť stravovania. Veľmi sme chceli priestor opticky rozčleniť, ale zároveň bolo nutné zachovať prehľad pri hľadaní voľného stola. Takisto sme nechceli zasahovať do existujúcich konštrukcií budovy. Preto vznikla myšlienka vkladania “parkových pavilónov” či “altánkov”, ktoré priestor vizuálne a akusticky delia a zároveň striktne nedefinujú.
Našou snahou bolo vytvoriť zamestnancom tráviacim väčšinu dňa v kancelárii iné prostredie, ktoré počas pauzy na jedlo prinesie do ich dňa príjemnú zmenu. Ideálom by bolo predeliť si pracovný deň posedením v parku na pikniku. Preto bol našou inšpiráciou a moodom, z ktorého sme vychádzali, Monetov obraz Raňajky v tráve. Do relatívne strohej a upätej kancelárskej budovy sme sa snažili vniesť viac neformálnu atmosféru. Veľa zelene, prírodné materiály, zákutia na sedenie rôzneho typu – to všetko by malo pracujúcim spríjemniť čas obeda.
Ďalším problémom, ktorý sme vnímali v priestore, je akustika, preto sme volili prvky zo špeciálnych akustických panelov – deliace panely v pavilónoch, ale aj zvuk pohltivé čalúnenia z recyklovaných PET materiáloch na stoličkách či svietidlách.
Jednou z výziev bola pre nás koncepcia zelene, ktorá bola pre nás pochopiteľne dôležitá. Hľadali sme netypické, neopozerané druhy, ktoré by viac evokovali park, záhradu, či posedenie pod stromom, ako dnes často používannú zeleň “urbánnej džungle”. Väčšina druhov, ktoré sme pôvodne vybrali, má radšej exteriér ako interiér. Na základe konzultácií so špecialistkou sme ale nakoniec vytvorili krásnu výsadbu, ktorej by sa malo v kantíne dariť.

The canteen represents a specific brief, where we have to keep both effectiveness and quick turnaround for diners in mind. We really wanted to visually divide the space, but at the same time it was necessary to maintain an overview when looking for a free table. We also did not want to interfere with the existing structures of the building. That is why the idea of inserting "park pavilions" or "arbors" arose, which visually and acoustically divide the space and at the same time do not strictly define it.
Our effort was to create a different environment for employees who spend most of the day in the office, which would bring a pleasant change to their day during their meal break. The ideal would be to divide the working day by sitting in the park for a picnic. Therefore, Monet's painting Breakfast on the Grass was our mood inspiration. We tried to bring a more informal atmosphere to the “austere and strict” office building. A lot of greenery, natural materials, seating of various types - all this should make lunch time more pleasant for workers.
Another problem we perceived in the space was acoustics, which is why we chose elements made from special acoustic materials – partition panels in the pavilions, but also sound-absorbing upholstery made of recycled PET materials on chairs and lamps.
One of the challenges was the greenery concept, which was understandably very important to us. We were looking for rather unusual species for interior use, that would evoke a park, a garden, or sitting under a tree rather than the greenery of the "urban jungle" that is often used today. Most of the species we initially selected prefer the exterior to the interior. Based on consultations with a specialist, we finally created a beautiful planting that should prosper in the canteen environment.
